Nursery rhymes are rudely interrupted by darker material, including a fast-moving, percussive, repeating pattern in 4/4, straight-jacketed into triplets. In the central section the percussive pattern is pitted against itself, but a few beats out of sync and now in 4/4. The nursery rhymes make a comeback though, but don't manage to overpower the repeating pattern.
